Here's some tips on getting around the Elders of Azeroth Website. The site is pretty intuitive but here are some things to consider as you try to find things. There are many areas that are only available to registered users. For example, if you want to find the Mumble and Vent log-in information you will need to be registered for the menu link to show up. Other areas of interest include the Photo Gallery where you can create your own gallery and upload pictures to share with guildies! Also, there is a great resource on the site for registered members where you can find helpful links to websites. This resource is member driven so you can share your links with other members too! Be sure to visit and participate in the forums. This can be a great way to get to know one another and to get help for the game! This forum is pretty straight forward and designed similar to most forum applications used on the web so it should be familiar to those who use forums. If you haven't used forums before you will find this one easy enough to figure out. Don't be shy! The forums can be a lot of fun. You may wonder why we need this registration process and it would be a great question! One great reason is that it offers our guildies a little bit of protection. You may have some great pictures of your family you would like to share with us but don't want the world to see. Having this limited to registered members gives you that limited anonymity. There is also the problem all websites deal with 24/7 and that's with "bots". There are programs that constantly scan the Internet for vulnerabilities. Some vulnerabilities are found in forms you fill out. By limiting access to registered users this stops a big portion of these "bots". By the way, this is also the reason you see the "captcha" at the end of forms where you have to copy the letters that are displayed in an image. Bots have a hard time dealing with these captcha's... There are other good reasons for using a registration process to protect the members as well as the site. |
